Compensation: Exempt, $78.54/HR-$112.21/HR

Job Summary:
Mason Health is a Critical Access Community Hospital nestled between Bremerton and Olympia, WA. We have six nursing departments, including a busy Surgical Services department, Birthing Center, Medical-Surgical/Pediatrics, Emergency Department, and Intensive Care Unit. We are a DNV accredited facility, and we work hard every day to be a place of healing, caring and connection for patients and families in the community we call home.
Works in close collaboration with other members of the executive team in overall administration of the organization. Provides strategic leadership and assumes line responsibility and authority for the administrative direction, evaluation, and coordination of the functions and activities of assigned departments. Ensures strategies, operational objectives and results are in accord with overall District needs.
As part of the nursing leadership team, this position will require relocation to within 1 hour of Shelton, WA and does not qualify for remote work.
The ACNO will oversee multiple departments within the hospital as assigned. This position reports directly to the CNO and in the absence of the CNO, the ACNO may be required to interpret hospital policy and provide guidance. Responsibilities of the ACNO include, but are not limited to:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in providing leadership over nursing, including managing Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Direct oversight of the inpatient units (MSP, ICU) and House Supervisors/Staffing.
Assist the CNO in maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance standards.
Partnering with hospitalists and other physician leaders.
Assisting in planning and implementing new service lines.
Creating an environment that will encourage recruitment and retention.
Oversee our high school to nursing clinical program.
Assisting the CNO in managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.
Assisting the CNO in establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services.
Developing patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how nursing care is assessed, delivered, and evaluated.
Assisting the CNO in developing and managing the nursing services budget and ensuring a sufficient number of qualified staff to assess patient needs.
Planning and providing nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness.
Analysis of Nursing Quality Indicators and proactively address quality improvement on a continual basis. Use of Lean and Project management tools.
Representing the nursing services at meetings as deemed necessary; participates with department leaders in designing and providing patient care and services.

Required Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred, or similar level degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or another related field required.
5+ years of professional experience overall, with a minimum of five years of leadership experience supervising multiple programs in an acute-care hospital environment (Critical Access experience preferred).
Demonstrated track record of performance and systems improvement in a hospital environment.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
Must be a registered nurse (RN) with current licensure within the state of Washington.
Additional Unit-Specific Certification Requirements:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, or within 6 months of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification within 6 months of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Current knowledge of nursing practices, leadership practices, and trends in the health care environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products
Expereience with Sharepoint, Cerner EMR, MCN Policy Management System a plus.
Ability to be effective in both the strategic and the operational aspects of work. Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement practical solutions.
Intermediate-level computer skills to include knowledge of current computer applications and proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and optimize new technology solutions.
Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and patient’s families.
Ability to read, understand and interpret information from a variety of sources; ability to anticipate issues and effectively solve problems of a complex nature.
Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Adaptable and flexible; able to identify priorities and adjust focus as needed. Ability to work independently and to effectively manage expectations and deadlines. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams, developing an organization-wide strategy for program excellence, engaging community partners, and partnering with a CEO and board of directors.
Ability to partner with medical staff to foster quality, efficiently provided care and emerge as respected leader and decision-maker. Ability to understand physicians’ viewpoints and needs, and work strategically in the best interest of patients and the facility.
