Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour
This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system
This position qualifies for additional shift differential pay.
Schedule:
3 x 12-hour shifts
Hours can fall between 6:00pm- 7:00am
You will have the opportunity to work with our amazing Board-Certified Surgeons. Most of our cases are orthopedics, soft tissue, neurological, and more There is no ER service, no weekend hours, and we are generally closed for the 6 major holidays each year. A Surgery Recovery Veterinary Technician role will be responsible for some post-operative client communication, observing post-op patients, and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal.
In this role, you will:
Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Ability to take the patient through the entire procedure from start to finish:
Pre-op: Comfortable with intubation, induction, post-operative diagnostics, and prepping patients for surgery
Peri-Op: Monitoring Anesthesia and ability to troubleshoot
Post- Op: Hospitalization care, radiographs, pain management, extubating, fluid therapy
Comfortable with assessing patients, and collecting vitals
Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
Able to set up intravenous fluids.
Administers subcutaneous fluids.
Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
Client communication with patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
