We also maintain an IATF-16949 certification in support of our automotive business.PMC is a certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise, offering a comprehensive range of services while supporting global OEMs' supplier diversity goals.Job Summary: The Medical Molding Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the molding operation, including process optimization, quality assurance, and team development. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure efficient production. Additionally, the manager will coach and develop direct reports, ensuring the team's readiness to meet production goals and maintain quality standards. Key performance objectives in order of priority with projected time allocation are: Standardized Work and Process Discipline. Establishes and ensures disciplined execution of technical best practices within the operation to achieve on time delivery, variances, scrap rates and down time. 15%Troubleshooting and Problem Solving. Provides leadership, problem solving and decision making when technical challenges present themselves. 30%Leadership, Management & Accountability. Establishes, coaches and develops a high performing medical processing team. 10%Production Schedule Support. Collaborates with department leaders to ensure the production schedule feasibility is attainable and successful. 5%New Product Development. Collaborates with project launch team to ensure successful validation and scale up. 15%Continuous Improvement. Leads continuous improvement initiatives across all technical aspects within scope of responsibility. 15%Note: Ten percent of time is reserved for ancillary responsibilities and activities unrelated to the performance objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities listed are fundamental to the position and must be performed successfully to achieve the key performance objectives of the role. Other responsibilities may be assigned.Standardized Work and Process DisciplineCollaborates with Process Technicians to establish optimal tooling sequences and setups.Partners with Process Technicians to identify and implement process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency and reduce cycle times.Oversees direct reports to ensure adherence to key quality and operational disciplines, including accurate completion of changeover forms and reports.Develops and implements SOPs to define expectations, assign accountability, and verify adherence to established standards and workflows.Works closely with the Technical Manufacturing Manager to establish and maintain standardized work practices.Monitors ongoing projects within sustaining engineering, ensuring adequate resources and support are provided for successful completion.Coordinates and oversees production trials, either personally or through the process engineer, to ensure readiness and successful execution.Enforces adherence to standard work practices and ensures proper evaluation and approval of tool room work orders.Troubleshooting and Problem SolvingServes as a technical resource for Process Technicians, providing guidance and support in troubleshooting process-related issues.Diagnoses and resolves issues with injection molding machines, materials, and tooling. Assesses the feasibility of production runs without requiring tool modifications.Evaluates the performance of existing tools to determine if repairs or modifications are necessary to achieve desired production outcomes. Collaborates with the Technical Manufacturing Manager and tooling technicians to identify and address tool-related problems.Troubleshoots mold performance issues in collaboration with the tool room. Coordinates with the tool room to prioritize tool repairs and ensure timely availability for production.Provides technical expertise to the quality assurance team, explaining part functionality and manufacturing processes. Assists in defining inspection criteria and communicating repair requirements.Investigates and resolves production issues, including program launch challenges. Provides technical support and guidance to address customer concerns.Collaborates with the quality team to support customer calls, visits, and documentation. Provides technical explanations and identifies solutions to complex issues.Coordinates with Clovis to address tooling issues, schedule repairs, and oversee the return of repaired tools. Leadership, Management & AccountabilityParticipates in the selection of team members who possess the necessary skill set and reflect PMC's values. Builds a team committed to excellence and empowers the team with the tools and resources necessary to achieve that goal.Provides leadership and guidance to assigned location's workforce, agrees upon priorities and establishes clear expectations for performance outcomes and behavior, identifies key performance measures, and provides feedback on results.Serves as a subject matter expert in injection molding and automation technologies. Provides guidance, training, and mentorship to direct reports.Provides regular updates to the Technical Manufacturing Manager on team performance, including metrics such as successful mold setup rates and trial readiness.Reports on key performance indicators, such as successful mold setup rates and shift handover effectiveness.Production Schedule SupportEnsures timely achievement of production schedules. Collaborates with the team to adapt to schedule changes or work with the scheduler to optimize resource allocation. Proactively communicates with relevant stakeholders to understand scheduling requirements and constraints.Coordinates with the tool room to ensure timely availability of molds for production.Collaborates with the scheduler to understand production schedules and identify potential scheduling challenges. Leverages knowledge of tool setup times and compatibility to optimize tool changeovers and minimize downtime. Actively participates in schedule planning, considering input from tool room, supply chain, production, quality, customer service, and other relevant departments.New Product Development Collaborates with the principal process engineer to launch new projects, leveraging expertise to validate tooling and establish initial process parameters. Oversees team preparation for trials, including mold setup and trial execution. Facilitates the transition of project ownership to the process technician team.Plans and coordinates the execution of trials for new molds, including defining the sequence of trials and assigning appropriate personnel. Ensures the availability of necessary resources and support to facilitate smooth trial execution. Participates in validation activities, such as installation qualification (IQ), operational qualification (OQ), and production qualification (PQ).Reviews and approves sample requests submitted by Program Managers, ensuring clarity, completeness, and feasibility. Verifies the readiness of trials and authorize their execution.Collaborates with Tooling Engineers to review new mold designs, providing input on design feasibility, potential flaws, and equipment limitations. Ensures that molds function as intended and meet required specifications.Assigns process technicians to oversee offsite trials at vendor locations, ensuring smooth production scheduling and adequate resource allocation. Provides support and guidance throughout the trial process, including feedback on mold performance and design improvements.Collaborates with Quality Engineers to develop clear and concise trial protocols and documentation. Participates in training sessions to understand quality expectations and ensures adherence to established procedures. Provide feedback on part quality and identify areas for improvement.Continuous ImprovementCollaborates with the sustaining engineer to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and increased efficiency.Proactively identifies areas within the molding process that can benefit from continuous improvement initiatives. Brings these opportunities to the attention of the sustaining engineer for further analysis and implementation.
