Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Nurse Leader Onboarding and Development is responsible for mentoring and coaching new, inexperienced or under-performing unit nursing leaders. The primary goal of this position is to facilitate the execution of one of the highest nurse leader priorities of the patient experience by acclimating and coaching nurse leaders to balance priorities of fiscal responsibility, operations, people management, quality and safety. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Works collaboratively with Division and facility leadership to identify development needs for unit nursing leadership.
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to new, inexperienced or under-performing unit nurse leaders through periodic one-to-one coaching sessions.
  • Makes recommendations for sustained or improved performance based on assessment and provides recommendations to Division and facility leadership.
  • Coordinates and provides periodic group activities for support, mentoring and boot-camp activities.
  • Key partner within PE leadership team

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Master’s Degree
  • National Nursing Leadership Certification is required within one year of accepting the role or by a signed commitment letter.

Required License: RN and BLS

Required Experience: 

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years in nursing leadership with direct oversight of clinical units.
  • Progressive leadership with multi-unit responsibility required.

Preferred Experience: Leadership experience in coaching, education, and/or project/program management highly desired..
