Assistant Manager - Grow Pod Tech

Wage: $15/hour

Shift: Full time. Mon-Fri. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Summary: We are looking for a motivated individual who can assist in the many tasks that are required to run the Urban Farm. This individual must have basic horticultural knowledge and feel comfortable teaching others about hydroponics as well as other varieties of gardening. We are looking for someone with a bright mind and a bright attitude as they will be interacting with guests and learning so much about different agricultural methods.

Responsibilities:
  • Help manage the production of produce inside the Freight Farms growing containers.
  • Assist in the production and distribution of fodder for the animals.
  • Helping to organize volunteer opportunities.
  • Work with volunteers or interns when needed.
  • Develop and present farm-related programming to our guests.
  • Be able to successfully calibrate the Freight Farms containers.
  • Help clean, package and distribute the produce to the restaurants.
  • Assist in providing the best guest experiences for people visiting the urban farm.
  • Exemplify Thanksgiving Point's Mission, Values, and Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High school degree is required, but we do need an individual with an open mind and passion for learning.
  • Flexible schedule in the event of an emergency at the farm.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Desire and proven ability to interact guests and volunteers frequently.
  • Organizational skills to be able to keep track of many small details.
  • Physical abilities include: stand, sit, walk, reach, climb stairs, lift 50 lbs, and manipulate small objects.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must pass a background check.
