The Sales Manager is responsible for driving value-added initiatives for WestRock’s customers and internal operations. The goal for our customers is to improve Westrock’s financial position & share of wallet with key customers by assessing their operations and identifying opportunities that generate customer value, improve processes, and drive operational gains.  The goal for our operations is to drive the continuous improvement charter for Atlanta, identifying new opportunities and leading accountability and measurability of achievement. 

The Sales Manager will also drive our Commercial Excellence vision by leveraging Best Practices for our customers, our commercial team, and our operations.  How you will impact WestRock:
  • Partner with key customers & commercial teams to drive value by implementing Best Practices, including Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies, to identify opportunities that will provide commercial benefit to both WestRock and our customers.
  • Participate as a strategic growth thought partner for our commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with Lean Six Sigma professionals and Operational leaders across Atlanta and the South region to improve processes and increase effectiveness within our plants.
  • Lead the successful achievement of our annual CIP goals by executing monthly & quarterly targets.
  • Develop a pipeline of customer & internal projects tied to cost savings & revenue generation.
  • Implement Commercial Excellence best practices to exceed Area continuous improvement goals.
  • Develop customer-facing content and tools for presenting value-added improvements.
  • Monitor profitability levels to track progress against budgeted targets and analyze monthly financial summaries.
  • Understand market dynamics and business drivers that define long-term commercial strategies and have an impact on Area and develop strategies to reach company objectives.
  • Develop working relationships with WestRock facilities to create opportunities for additional revenue streams across the enterprise.
  • Function as a Change Agent for implementing new processes with our customers and internal operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify value-added opportunities to improve margins.
  • Develop Trusted Advisor status with WestRock’s customers.

What you need to succeed: 
  • Bachelor’s degree; Technical degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with progressive growth in leadership and business impact.
  • Certified Black Belt with demonstrated ability to consistently deliver financial results.
  • Lean Training with demonstrated practical application.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to create financial models used to support project selection and determine net project value to the P&L.
  • Enthusiastic about Continuous Improvement and ability to make others successful.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, teach, and mentor technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, SharePoint and working knowledge of MURAL.
  • Driven with a sense of urgency to achieve results.
  • Clear and effective communicator at all levels.
  • Manages and drives change.
