WHAT WE DO:At Plasma-Therm®, we design and build configurable wafer processing platforms for standard and advanced processes used in microelectronics manufacturing. From etch and deposition applications to rapid thermal processing and plasma dicing, our systems keep pace with your needs and are engineered to provide outstanding performance time after time. 
POSITION SUMMARY:**This will be a temp to hire opportunity, directly with Plasma-Therm, not through an employment agency** You will process PO's to procure materials, component parts, equipment, and services to support Parts and Customer Service requirements.  Requires a basic  understanding  of  Supply  Chain.  Maintains  strong  supplier relationships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilizes MRP, VMI, Kanban or other signals to prepare and issue purchase orders for parts to support production schedules and departmental requirements. Liaises with Engineering and Design groups on product specifications and approvals.
  • Prepares and issues RFQs (Request for Quote) and inputs information received into MRP system for the purpose of using price quantity breaks and determining secondary sourcing.
  • Places  orders,  selecting  most  appropriate  sources  of  supply,  giving  full  weight  to  competitive quotations, delivery schedules, and vendor quality.
  • Assists with basic negotiation in cost and lead time reduction strategies with the help of senior buyer or management.
  • Contacts  vendors  regarding  adjustments,  incorrect  material,  or  delivery  problems.  Coordinates corrective actions.
  • Maintains effective vendor relations.
  • Work within the parts order fulfillment business process.
  • *Maintain daily process metrics for parts order fulfillment business process.
  • Identify gaps / potential improvements within departmental business processes – suggest business process improvements.
  • Maintains working knowledge of product lines and applications.
  • Assists  in  evaluating  vendor  reliability  by  reporting  vendor  quality,  dependability,  and  price performance. Be proficient in the vendor qualification process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
What you need to be considered:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related discipline is preferred.
  • 0-3 years of related purchasing experience.
  • Proficient in MRP systems and computer based programs such as Excel, Word, Project, etc. desirable.

  • Strong organization and follow through skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room facility and support areas such as stockroom and machine shop.  
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
