Metals Trader - non-ferrous metals - Metals Recycling


Objective of the Position:

The Metals Trader will be responsible for buying and selling non-ferrous metals, managing trading activities, and maximizing profitability through strategic market analysis and trading decisions. Compensation range is $150k to $190k base DOE + bonus.


Main Responsibilities:


Market Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of metal markets, including supply and demand forecasts, price trends, and market fundamentals.
  • Stay updated on global economic indicators and geopolitical events that impact metal prices.
  • Utilize financial instruments such as futures, options, and ETFs to hedge risks
  • Execute trades in ferrous and non-ferrous metals on commodity exchanges or through over-the-counter markets.
  • Manage a portfolio of metal assets, ensuring optimal performance and risk


Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, buyers, and other market participants.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and buyers to secure favorable terms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including logistics, finance, and compliance, to ensure smooth trading operations.


Risk Management:

  • Monitor and manage trading risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company’s trading positions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.


Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on trading performance, market conditions, and risk exposure.
  • Maintain accurate records of all trading activities, contracts, and transactions.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis and trading performance.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in metals trading, preferably in both ferrous & non-ferrous markets.
  • Proficiency in using trading platforms and financial analysis software.
