Who are we:We are a K-12 Charter organization of 4 small public schools. We aim to provide scholars in the Los Angeles community with the highest quality instructional standards based program centered on values that are deeply rooted in serving them on a daily basis. Our schools are as follows:
Downtown Value School, serving K-8th Grade; Everest Value School, serving K-8th Grade; Central City Value High School, serving 9th-12th Grade; and University Prep Value High School, serving 9th-12 Grade.
Our Mission:The Value Schools mission is to establish and support high quality, values based elementary and secondary charter schools for populations of students who have been historically underserved by the public school system.
How we do our work:
- Small school settings: Value Schools knows that strong, positive relationships are key to student success. That happens best in places "where everybody knows your name" and nobody slips through the cracks.
- Vibrant campus life: Value Schools students are encouraged to develop their interests in a wide variety of areas. Opportunities for enrichment, physical activity, leadership and service are provided on every Value Schools campus.
- Student-centered curriculum using research-based materials: A standards-based curriculum focuses on what students know, not what teachers teach. Student-focused learning ensures teachers provide learning activities and tasks suited to individual needs.
- Dedicated and enthusiastic parents: Our parents are an integral part of our campus life. Through their involvement, parents develop an extended community that enriches not only the life of the school, but the lives of families as well.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Curriculum and Instruction:
- Projects and encourages a positive, cooperative atmosphere within the school and seeks to motivate all staff toward the fulfillment of the school’s mission, the values and instructional vision.
- Shares responsibility for the improvement of instruction within the school, and understands basic instructional models and coaching supports.
- Understands and supports effective curriculum implementation to ensure that instructional programs and courses are implemented consistently with the Common Core State Standards and the NGSS.
- Plans, leads and works in collaboration with school leadership in faculty meetings/professional development on a weekly basis, as well as in coaching and supporting teachers in instruction.
- Implement and create instructional systems to develop and monitor student learning, while using an equitable lens.
- Implements best practices, strategies and supports for diverse learners, including but not limited to, interventions.
- Foster and promote a constructive and collaborative environment throughout the school amongst all educational partners, including but not limited to, parents, students, teachers, etc.
- Oversee and coordinate resources amongst educational partners to create a school climate that is aligned to the core values of Value Schools
- Establish, sustain and foster strong connections with all educational partners at the school site and the Value Schools Network team
- Build a productive, positive, values based culture in which all educational partners are able to grow, learn, collaborate, thrive, and feel supported in creating a strong school culture
- Assists the principal in the planning for all aspects of instruction, including all types of scheduling, registration of students, test planning and implementation, and the development of a master schedule.
- Assists the principal in sustaining fair and equitable systems that support multiple aspects of the school including, but not limited to, school discipline, staff evaluations, and parent meetings
- Lead non-instructional school functions and programs that vary by school site, but potentially include: testing coordination, compliance reporting, student activities, enrollment, etc.
- Strives to attain a positive school climate in which students thrive with the support of a values based culture that is aligned to equity, inclusion and diversity.
- Enforces the instructional and school program that is consistent with the approved Charter petition, the school’s values and philosophy and current law (this includes but is not limited to supporting with audits that directly relate to the school’s instructional program which can include oversight visits, charter renewal, and the LCAP process)
- Coordinates the school’s extra-curricular activities and career and college readiness.
- Assists and encourages all instructional staff to develop and improve their professional expertise through effective coaching models and supports.
- Conducts weekly professional development and collaboration meetings, including but not limited to team meetings in relation to instruction, discipline, and the general school program.
- Develops and maintains a positive communication system with the community, educational partners and is responsive to meaningful input.
- Develops and maintains parent resources and engages parents in volunteerism in the school in regards to instructional support at home, this may include coordinating parent workshops to educate and support them around the instructional and school program.
- Possess and maintain a valid California administrative credential or receive training through a valid leadership or training program for school leadership.
- Possess and maintain a valid California secondary or multiple subject teaching credential.
- A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of 5 years of successful secondary teaching.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of instructional coaching experience.
- Charter experience is a plus, but not required.
CalSTRS/CalPERS
Value Schools employees who meet the qualifications will be enrolled in either CalSTRS (for certificated employees) or CalPERS (for classified employees).
These are considered a defined benefit retirement plan as pension payments are determined by a set formula and are payable for life. This contrasts with a defined contribution plan (like a 403(b)), in which benefits are determined not by a formula, but solely by the amount of contributions in an account, plus earnings.
403(b) and Roth 403(b) – This is a voluntary plan administered through the Third -Administrator (TPA) SchoolsFirst.
Summary of Benefits:
- Salary: $105,625 to $121,875 for a 12 month period (range is dependent on leadership years of service as a school administrator or higher and education)/salary is determined by a salary grade schedule and is not able to be negotiated
- MEDICAL: Value Schools pays 100% of the premiums for EMPLOYEES, and a portion of the premium for dependents. Employees have the option of choosing between HMO plans offered by Kaiser and Anthem, a PPO plan offered by Anthem or and H.S.A plan offered by Anthem.
- DENTAL: Value Schools pays 100% of the premiums for EMPLOYEES electing DHMO insurance through CalDental, and a portion of the premiums for EMPLOYEES who elect coverage through the Dental PPO or the Dental PPO Buy-Up plans offered (administered through Principal).
- VISION: Value Schools pays 100% of the Anthem Vision premiums for EMPLOYEES, and a portion of the premiums for dependents.
- Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) – Value Schools provides $25,000 life insurance to all full-time employees as well as AD&D insurance, both at no cost to the employee.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)- Provided through Anthem at no cost to all employees (and their family members). An EAP provides a confidential source that employees can use to find support and resources for certain challenges they face. This includes, but is not limited to, issues such as alcohol or substance misuse; child/elder care; relationship challenges; financial/legal issues; wellness matters and traumatic events. Services are offered via phone, video-based, online- chatting, email or face-to-face. On average, Value Schools contributes $10,000 annually per employee for Health Benefits
