DESCRIPTION:

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the financial management and accounting operations of the company. This role ensures accurate financial/tax reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient financial operations, supporting our mission and business plans. This role reports to the COO and maintains key external and internal cross-functional relationships.


MUST HAVE’s:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/MBA in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
  • CPA/ Chartered Accountant certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in the feed/ food manufacturing industry, including proven experience as a Financial Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting and financial management team to ensure a positive and productive outcome.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial statements and ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with leaders on month-end and annual review activities.
  • Work with the leadership teams to provide critical strategic financial insights and set business goals that ensure both short success and long-term growth.
  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are compliant with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate budgeting activities, perform variance analysis, and support strategic decision-making processes, e.g., pricing strategy.
  • Lead the preparation for audits and manage bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, and receivable.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and accountability within business teams.
  • Oversee digital transformation initiatives, including the implementation and optimization of new ERP systems.
  • Drive change management processes to incorporate financial best practices and enhance operational efficiency. e.g., Use of working capital and execution of our inventory management system.
  • Direct and indirect supervision and coaching of individuals with accounting and financial management responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to collaborate across all functions to achieve business plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of US GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls, with strong ethical compass.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using solid accounting and financial knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain collaborative working relationships with team members, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and other third-party vendors and partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and proactive/results orientation.
  • Attain thorough understanding of company products and ingredients and business process.
  • Utilize resilience and a growth mindset to adapt and meet job expectations.
  • Proficient in financial software, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong ERP database experience required. Microsoft Dynamics
  • AI experience desired.
