First Citizens Bank is seeking a Vice President of Renewable Energy Project Finance in Santa Monica, CA. This role involves managing deal processes, leading internal teams, reviewing legal documents and financial models, conducting due diligence, and preparing credit memos and marketing materials. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of project finance experience, with strong financial modeling and communication skills. The position offers a base salary of $150,000 to $175,000, plus variable compensation.


Responsibilities:

  1. Manage overall external-facing deal processes including day-to-day interaction with clients, consultants, and lawyers.
  2. Lead internal teams across workstreams related to deal underwriting and processing.
  3. Review transaction legal documents and provide commentary in the context of deal negotiation.
  4. Review financial models prepared by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and functionality.
  5. Lead due diligence efforts and prepare Q&A logs for potential lending opportunities.
  6. Review consultant reports from independent engineers, insurance consultants, appraisal, and power market consultants.
  7. Prepare internal credit memos.
  8. Prepare marketing materials for potential clients and lenders.
  9. Stay up to date with industry trends and power markets.
  10. Train junior team members on modeling and other job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve-month analysis.
  2. Management OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, financial statement spreading, preparation of projections, and trailing twelve-month analysis.
  3. Management Preferred.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field.
  5. 6 years of experience in project finance at a corporate or investment bank, renewable energy company, consulting firm, or renewables-focused private equity or private credit fund.
  6. Outstanding financial modeling skills.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort interacting with clients and consultants.
  8. Strong understanding of tax equity and debt structures used in the U.S. renewables space.
  9. Strong understanding of risks related to power and renewable energy projects.
  10. Experience reviewing legal documents.
