Summary:

As the Vice President of Project Management you provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the successful execution of all construction projects. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing large-scale projects. You will drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence in project delivery while fostering a collaborative and high-performing project management team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance project management processes, methodologies, and overall project delivery efficiency.
  • Project Oversight: Provide executive oversight and management for all construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, coordinators, and engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as a key point of contact for client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and addressing concerns or issues promptly and effectively.
  • Resource Allocation: Optimize resource allocation including personnel, equipment, and materials to maximize project efficiency and profitability. 
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and other challenges.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project financials, including budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, to ensure projects remain within financial targets and achieve profitability goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure all projects meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and company policies across all projects.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular project performance reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with business development teams to identify new opportunities, participate in proposal development, and contribute to winning new contracts.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in the civil construction industry.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge relevant to the role through ongoing professional development activities.

 

To perform the job successfully you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing project management in the civil engineering construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and project management best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of successfully managing multiple large-scale projects concurrently, delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Ability to travel as needed to project sites and client meetings.
  • PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
