Essential Function

Position is responsible for direction and management of the Accounting functions (general accounting and the month-end close, SEC reporting, technical accounting, inventory accounting) in a multi-brand, international environment.

Primary Duties

20% Maintain a system of internal controls that provide reasonable assurance that the reported financial information is materially correct and in conformance with U.S. GAAP, direct the monitoring and testing of the effectiveness of these controls.

20% Coordinate the quarterly reviews and annual audits of the financial statements with external auditors. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the consolidated financial statements, to include the month-end close process and certain consolidating entries. Prepare and review management reporting, including to CFO and Audit Committee.

20% Monitor changes in GAAP, identify necessary changes in policies and procedures resulting therefrom, and communicate the expected impact to executive management and implement changes, as necessary. Serve as a GAAP subject matter expert and go-to business partner in identifying accounting impacts and opportunities associated with business operations and initiatives.

10% Provide overall financial and accounting guidance to the international operations to monitor the accuracy of their financial reporting and adequacy of their internal controls for consistency with the US operations.

10% Respond to inquiries from management, department personnel and the field organization regarding financial statement issues and accounting policies.

10% Train and develop accounting leaders and staff

10% Continuous monitoring of accounting processes and systems, including oversight of system implementations and upgrades.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA certification
7 to 12 years of related experience, retail experience preferred
In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
In-depth knowledge of integrated ERP systems, Oracle experience preferred

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
