Associate Attorney – Business Law

MSB Law is a growing values-based law firm in Overland Park that serves as trusted legal counsel for values-driven business owners in Kansas and Missouri. The firm specializes in all phases of business law including corporate formation and start-up, business operations, business growth and expansion (including mergers & acquisitions), business succession planning, business litigation, and more. We’re seeking an Associate Attorney to work closely with the managing partner leading the growing business law team. Associate Attorney will work directly with business owner clients, collaborate with a team to provide excellent client service, and have strong opportunities for professional development and advancement.

· Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to independently build confidence and trust with clients with moderate supervision.

· Plans to use the phrase, “How can I help?” and promises to avoid the phrase “That’s not my job.”

· Enjoys learning, and actively seeks to grow and improve both professionally and personally.

· Strives to always put the best interests of the client, then the firm, before self-interests.

· Promotes a team atmosphere and positive work environment. 

· Cares about giving back to the community, through service projects and approved pro bono.


Minimum Qualifications and Expectations:

· Growing lawyer with between 5-7 years of relevant experience, licensed in KS and MO.

· 1800 annual billable hours (includes 180 hours pro bono work through firm’s pro bono initiative).

· Excellent document drafting and editing skills, and excellent attention to detail.

· Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage both paper and electronic documents, independently coordinate calendar and appointments, and meet all deadlines.

· Portable book of business (even partial) is a definite plus, but not specifically required.  


Compensation and Benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience, with opportunities for performance-based bonuses.  Benefits include firm-paid health insurance (85% of health, vision, dental), 401k, PTO, paid VTO (volunteer time off for community service), paid pro bono, flex-schedule, and more.
