The Director of Faith Formation develops and supervises sacramental and faith formation programs to serve the spiritual needs of the children, youth, and adults of the parish.

Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. It is required that this employee be a practicing Roman Catholic.

Representative Responsibilities
  1. Faith Formation
    1. Plan and implement sacramental preparation for First Communion, Confirmation, and RCIA for adults and youth. Ensure that programs align with parish core principles and archdiocesan standards.
    2. Recruit and train catechists and other catechetical volunteers, and provide on-going evaluation of all catechetical volunteers.
    3. Provide on-going formation opportunities for catechetical volunteers through archdiocesan classes and workshops, approved catechetical resources, or catechist in-service/retreat days.
    4. Work with volunteer leaders to coordinate catechetical parent meetings.
    5. Provide relevant and timely communication to families and parishioners concerning all religious education programs.
  2. Administration
    1. Assist in the preparation and management of the parish religious education budget and order all essential materials and supplies.
    2. Maintain required forms and files for students and catechists, and ensure all required archdiocesan forms are completed and submitted as needed.
    3. Create and share annual parish religious education calendar.
    4. Conduct registration of students in religious education program and track fees paid.
    5. Ensure that all catechists and other parish volunteers have completed all required steps and forms to meet archdiocesan E3 safe environment standards.
    6. Ensure safety and security of the building during religious education activities.
  3. Parish and Community
    1. Collaborate with other program directors to provide and support formation to parishioners serving in other parish programs (i.e. adult, liturgy, youth ministry).
    2. Support core parish activities such as festivals, traditional cultural celebrations, and other events as needed.
    3. Actively participate in parish and staff activities as appropriate and in professional enrichment and continuing education programs.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field or equivalent experience/certification
  2. Practicing Catholic with thorough knowledge and understanding of the Catholic faith and traditions.
  3. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
  4. Experience providing catechetical instruction to youth and adults
  5. Experience coordinating sacramental preparation or faith formation programs
  6. Ability to train and support adult and youth volunteers
  7. Excellent communication and organization skills
  8. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office products, email, and basic computer literacy
  10. Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check
