Description:

BKV Group seeks a Director of Structural Engineering (TX) to lead and manage our local discipline team. This position collaborates with other Directors, Managing Partners and Project Managers to lead projects, support and mentor team members, and facilitate training opportunities for BKV staff. The Director of Structural serves as Engineer of Record on all assigned projects.


  • Project Management: Collaborates with Project Managers to comply with requirements on project deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and reviews with VP of Engineering and Managing Partners.


  • Document / Detail Standards: Oversees the development and maintenance of discipline drawings standards and details. Leads and coordinates the design team through all phases of design and documentation. Knows and upholds the use of all quality standards.


  • Staffing / Scheduling: Manages project team assignments and schedules for local Structural Engineering and Design staff. Coordinates with leadership for staffing/scheduling of projects across practice sites including team member availability and allocation. Collaborates on hiring needs for the discipline with the VP of Professional Services.


  • Mentoring / Training / Developing: Acts as a general resource for Structural staff related to questions/concerns. Provides mentoring opportunities for structural design staff and advises senior leadership on training opportunities that would be beneficial for staff development. Conducts quarterly check-in and annual review meetings for discipline staff.


  • Business Development: Assists in business development related activities as defined by the Managing Partners and Business Development/Marketing team related to new project and new client interviews, and other business development related activities as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Must be a licensed and registered Professional Engineer. Licensed Structural Engineer preferred.
  • 15+ years’ related experience.
  • Must be proficient in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
