Role and Responsibilities
  • Manage lead operators and general labor in Production Department. Supervisor is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of production. Also directly supervises hourly non-supervisory employees
  • Check ovens make sure they are on and the correct recipe is in place
  • Check emails
  • Ensure the proper ingredients are on both pie lines needed
  • Check filling room and dough room
  • Order ingredients needed for production
  • Ensure machine operators have their paperwork
  • Ensure that paperwork is being filled out correctly
  • Ensure the safety of all the employees
  • Fill out the startup checklists for all pie lines
  • Report downtime on the machines throughout the shift
  • Ensure and supervise that the job duties are being properly performed
  • Assist with providing breaks to needed personnel
  • Check the bake on the pies on all ovens
  • Spot check the temperatures of the dough and filling
  • Check for production schedule changes
  • Make a filling room list for both first and second shift
  • Check next day's schedule and communicate to employees if any changes occur; post schedule
  • Complete and maintain daily attendance exception reports and send to Human Resources
  • Take daily and keep track of attendance of employees and temporary employees
  • Communicate to Maintenance and Receiving about production schedule
  • Communicate daily activities to the Production Manager and/ or Plant Manager
  • Print out any needed formulas for the day or next day of production
  • Coach and train employees on their jobs
  • Address production issues in a timely manner to reduce or prevent lost time or product
  • Enforce GMP rules
  • Ensure waste is communicated and documented properly
  • Communicate with off shift Supervisors regarding any issues during worked shift or from the night prior
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have full manual dexterity and lift and carry minimum 50 pounds
