Overview

The Resource Center Program Manager helps support a wide-spectrum of needs for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness. The Resource Center Program Manager needs to be passionate about working with young people, model positive behavior each day, flexible in an often rapidly changing environment, and client-focused in all interactions with young people. The Resource Center Program Manager is a team player and also a leader.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Resource Center activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization

  • Collaborate with supervisor to oversee the development of processes, forms, and records to document activities in systems such as Census and HMIS

  • Collaborate with Behavioral Health Specialist to manage behavioral issues with young people

  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the Resource Center

  • Collaborate with supervisor to develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the Resource Center

  • Communicate with youth and stakeholders to solicit input to improve programs

  • Data tracking

  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency

  • Develop and maintain collaborations with other entities including: other direct service providers, schools, community-based organizations, businesses, and local government

  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and maintain volunteers

  • Supervise Resource Center staff and Engagement Coordinator (JV) by providing direction, input and feedback

  • Identify individuals before entrance into the Resource Center

  • Perform weapon checks on all people entering the Resource Center

  • Interact with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders that positively represents Rod’s House

  • Oversee the check-in/check-out system to ensure collection of accurate and quality data

  • Prep and serve meals to young people

  • Ensure young people are adhering to guidelines for the Resource Center

  • Help young people access permission-based services such as case management, behavioral health, showers, and laundry

  • Perform general housekeeping duties for downstairs and upstairs public spaces including, but not limited to, cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, organizing

  • Build authentic relationships with young people accessing the Resource Center

  • Give tours to stakeholders, as needed

  • Provide general assistance and support as directed

  • Maintain a positive, non-judgemental, trauma-informed approach

  • Proven ability to create a system or process when one does not exist

  • Complete all duties as assigned and other duties as required.


Required or Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • One of the following Required:

    • A bachelor’s degree in social services or a closely related field from an accredited school and tw0 years of experience working with children or youth OR;

    • Five years of successful full-time experience in a relevant field working with children or youth; and (i) supervisory abilities that promote effective staff performance; and (ii) relevant experience, training, and demonstrated skills in each area that they will be managing or supervising.

    • A high school Diploma or GED, five years of successful full-time experience in a relevant field working with children or youth; and supervisory abilities that promote effective staff performance; and relevant experience, training, and demonstrated skills in each area that they will be managing or supervising

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements

Shifts could include evening, early mornings, or weekends, including holidays. This position requires daily interactions with youth experiencing homelessness and with community members, social service providers, and other organizations.. Physical requirements for the position include frequent walking, hearing, seeing, speaking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, climbing, and repetitive motions. This position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force to lift, carry, pull, or move objects. Ability to safely drive a 14-passenger van is strongly preferred.
