Position Summary:

The Program Manager is a collaborative and enthusiastic professional and leads a dedicated team of Assistive Technology Specialists in assessing, implementing and supporting assistive technology solutions for Indiana PK-12 schools.

Essential Functions:

Program Management:

  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the K-12 assistive technology loan library.
  • Develop and monitor program goals, objectives, and outcomes to ensure alignment with IDOE and educational goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate with LEAs to identify and address assistive technology needs within K-12 schools.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with the Indiana Department of Education on reporting program information and deliverables.

Staff Supervision:

  • Supervise a team of Assistive Technology Specialists across various competencies (e.g., ASD/Sensory, AAC/Communication, Blind, Low Vision, Mobility, Multi-lingual, other).
  • Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, therapists, and other stakeholders to integrate assistive technology into the educational environment.
  • Promote the assistive technology program through outreach activities, training sessions, and school events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including other agencies and technology providers.

Technical Assistance and Training

  • Oversee the provision of technical assistance and training to students, educators, and families on the use of assistive technology devices.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality support services, including device demonstrations, classroom observations, and individualized consultations.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage program budgets, including procurement and maintenance of assistive technology devices.
  • Prepare and submit reports on program activities, outcomes, and financial status.

Nonessential Functions:

  • Other Duties as assigned: This position may require other duties including but not limited to administrative support and program support.

Education, Licenses, or Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, rehabilitation technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification as an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) or similar credential demonstrating expertise in assistive technology.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Experience required:

  • 5yrs of school-based or clinical experience working with students ages 3-21
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Proven track record of successful program management and staff supervision.
  • Strong computer skills for communication, data tracking, and reporting.

General Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology devices, applications, and industry trends.
  • Strong understanding of technology including Windows, MS Applications, and Apple

Working Hours:

  • Schedule varies, typically 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Minimum of 40 hours per week.
