Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $60,000.  Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:
 

The overall goal of the Career and Technical Education initiative is to improve students academic achievement, graduation rates, postsecondary goals.  This includes dual credit, postsecondary credentials, and industry-recognized credentials.

The Career and Technical Education Manager administers and interprets state education policy.  You will create content and standards, implement professional development, and assist school corporations, area CTE districts, and other agencies and individuals regarding courses, programs, and resources.  You will also participate in program monitoring and reviews.

Key outcomes for this role include:

-Update key CTE documents that are shared regularly with the field.
-Serve as the main point of contact for issues related to special populations.
-Oversee a portion of CTE Programs of Study by updating relevant information, answering questions from the field, and making determinations regarding necessary changes.
 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

-Assist schools and programs in planning and implementing CTE programs.
-Collaborate with Public Policy, K-12 Outreach, Postsecondary Transitions, Academic Affairs, and State Financial Aid teams to implement career coaching, work-based learning, and support for special populations.
-Implement regional outreach, education, engagement, and accountability about all CTE programs.
-Assist in coordinating the Division's internal and external communications and marketing efforts for CTE including webpages, webinars, and online presentations.
-Provide technical assistance to school districts and other stakeholders.
-Provide information and assistance to schools and district personnel in areas such as: selecting instructional materials, developing programs/ curriculum, identifying equipment needs, and interpreting rules/policies.
-Answer emails, phone calls, and other inquiries about CTE courses and programs.
-Serves on related industry boards, task forces, and grants directly affecting Indiana students interested in Career Pathways.
-Communicates with and assists the leadership of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).
-Assist, as needed, with required monitoring, auditing, and reviewing processes.
-Support Commission events.

What You'll Need for Success:

Required:

-A minimum of a CTE Instructor License or bachelor’s degree.
-Experience in K-12 or higher education or public policy.
 

Additional qualifications:

-Thorough knowledge of career and technical education.
-Experience in workshop and webinar technical assistance.
-Proven ability to communicate effectively and to work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
-Close attention to detail coupled with the ability to exercise good judgment.
-Proactive, including the ability to anticipate conflicts and challenges before they arise.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills, listening and information processing skills, and synthesizing skills.
-Familiarity with education policy, practice, and broader economic and other trends influencing postsecondary access and success.
-Strong strategic, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
-Strong computer literacy, including the Microsoft suite and related office productivity software.
-Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously in a decentralized, high-profile work environment. 
-A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable pieces, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage milestones, and then execute effectively.
-Good judgment, discretion, tact, and the ability to work easily with leaders across various organizational settings is required. 
-Willingness to travel in Indiana and, occasionally, nationally.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
