Turnaround Management Association (TMA) is searching for an experienced Membership Database Support Specialist who will play a pivotal role in supporting day-to-day operations of its membership database systems. This key role will also serve as a liaison between chapters and the TMA global office, ensuring smooth communication and technical support for chapter events, membership renewals, and any other membership chapter-related support needed. The qualified individual has demonstrated experience in database management and customer service/membership support.

Turnaround Management Association (TMA) (non for profit) is the most professionally diverse organization in the corporate restructuring, renewal, and corporate health space. We are a community of professionals who work with companies to improve performance, manage disruption, restructure, and work through insolvency, preserve equity, and drive significantly improved results. Established in 1988 and located in downtown Chicago on Wacker Drive, TMA has nearly 10,000 members in 54 chapters worldwide, including 35 North American chapters. Members include turnaround practitioners, attorneys, accountants, advisors, liquidators, consultants, as well as academic, government employees, and members of the judiciary. TMA provides members the opportunity to network and attend educational sessions to hone skills and expand their contacts. What is the Opportunity?

Under the leadership of the Director of Membership and Chapter Relations this position would be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serve as a point of contact and resource for chapter leaders and administrators, providing guidance and database system support for chapter events, membership renewals, and other resources.
  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for chapter leaders and administrators regarding web-related issues, including online event setup, membership renewals, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with staff, the vendor, and users to address and promptly resolve system issues and effectively improve membership operations.
  • Configure and test event registration systems for global and chapter-specific events, ensuring smooth registration processes.
  • Assist with registration duties for TMA Global conferences, webinars, and certification events, resolving customer issues promptly.
  • Utilize demographic data and reporting tools to provide insights and recommendations for membership strategy and chapter development.
  • Assist with the development of comprehensive documentation and training materials for onboarding and supporting chapter executives.
  • Provide backup and support for the membership team, assisting with member setup, renewal communications, and new chapter charters.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to rectify billing discrepancies and ensure accurate membership payment processing.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Job Location: Flexible hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) and other days virtual.

  • Relocation assistance will not be provided for out-of-state candidates.

What qualifications are needed?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in database management.
  • 2+ years of customer/membership service experience (required); in an association environment (preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Office/Teams skills, intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with database management systems, preferably with experience in association management software (e.g., Protech).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and independently.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing outstanding support to chapter leaders and administrators.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to collaborate on projects successfully, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff, management, and volunteer leaders.
  • Ability to travel out of state and overnight (less than 5% for TMA Global Conferences- 2-4 conferences a year).
