Clinical Trainee - Counseling Center

(Part Time, Non Benefited)

Position Summary

The Westminster Counseling Center is excited to add clinical trainees to our small and highly supportive clinical team. We are a curious, integrated, and interdisciplinary team consisting of a: PhD Psychologist, CMHC and a LCSW. We seek trainees to offer therapeutic services to meet the growing needs of our student population, including but not limited to historically underrepresented, student of color, LGBTQ+, first-generation and international students.

The Westminster Counseling Center offers therapeutic and developmental services to individuals and groups. Services include brief individual counseling, crisis counseling, and assessment services for students with established and emerging mental health concerns; mental health and wellness outreach programs; and consultation services.

The Clinical Trainee will work under the site supervisor, that must be an on-site licensed mental health provider with at least a master’s degree and a minimum of two years of pertinent professional experience post-licensure.


Primary Responsibilities

Direct Service

  • Complete intake assessments for undergraduate and graduate students at Westminster.
  • Provide mental health counseling in such forms as individual, group, couples, or family therapy. Intakes, consultations, evaluations, co-therapy, and treatment planning for undergraduate and graduate students at Westminster.
  • Participate in weekly crisis/triage assessment coverage with other staff members in our office.
  • Provide case management and community referrals to clients as needed.

Training

  • Each student interacts with their on-site supervisor for at least one hour per week of individual supervision. Other supervision formats are considered additional to the minimum individual supervision requirement.
  • Consult their supervisor on the feedback provided in their evaluations and submit the signed evaluation forms to the internship coordinator.
  • Participate in weekly all staff case consultation
  • Participate in monthly DEI training

Minimum Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited master’s level or PhD program such as counseling psychology, clinical psychology, master’s in social work, or master’s in clinical mental health counseling.
