Summary
The Internship for Lockout Tagout (LOTO) Field Technician involves visiting multiple departments of the to identify energy sources related to machinery and equipment, with the goal of developing step-by-step shutdown procedures to ensure safety. As interns gain experience, they may also have the opportunity to provide, consulting, and evaluation services to our clients. In this position, interns will interact with maintenance managers, health and safety personnel, and other professionals in key positions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating within a team to deliver lockout services, focusing on learning industry standards and best practices.
- Identifying machines and equipment that require Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures, noting all energy sources.
- Engaging with maintenance, health and safety, and staff to gather essential equipment information.
- Crafting detailed written procedures, with a keen focus on accuracy and quality assurance. Additionally, assisting in printing, laminating, and organizing procedures.
- As interns develop their skills, undergo training, and demonstrate proficiency, they may have opportunities for additional responsibilities and project involvement within the scope of their internship.
Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adhere to industry standards and best practices for lockout services.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively identify machines and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in written communication, including the capability to craft detailed procedures with a focus on accuracy and quality assurance.
Education and/or Experience
- Previous internship or coursework projects related to occupational safety, industrial engineering, or equipment maintenance would be advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures or related safety protocols through academic coursework, training programs, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn new software tools and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly and professionally
