Ball Horticultural Company is a leading breeder and distributor of flowers and vegetables around the globe. Located in the suburb of West Chicago (near Naperville and Geneva), our 60-acre property boasts 10 acres of display gardens. The gardens are primarily used as a sales and marketing tool but also provide a great relaxation opportunity for staff at the home office. Perennials, annuals, vegetables, roses, and shrubs are blooming from May through September.
Provide full spectrum support to our independent Sales Representatives, allowing them to focus on annual sales and growth objectives while trusting work submitted to their internal Sales Support Specialist will be handled in a timely and accurate manner. This position has responsibility for supporting corporate initiatives to help grow business.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
· Provide fast and efficient support to assigned Sales Representatives.
-Support includes a variety of tasks including but not limited to order entry, order uploads, order tracking, claims, reports, quote preparation and more. Your talent for prioritizing urgencies and your organizational skills will lend themselves to this role.
· Communicate status updates.
- Our Sales Reps operate in a fast paced business environment and need to be part of the communication chain, with daily updates of outstanding issues and steps taken towards resolution.
· Provide support to customers
- Sales Reps and Support Specialists work together to determine service needs with the Support Specialist taking the lead with certain accounts.
· Answer 800 line calls during the year with a greater emphasis during high call volume periods.
-In addition to supporting your assigned reps, our customer first priority means our goal is to have a Customer Relations team member answer each incoming call.
Other Duties:
· Establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with all customers, colleagues and supporting personnel. Make outbound sales and customer outreach calls.
· Cross-train in all customer relations functions.
· Support the team/department by taking on additional responsibilities or sales reps to cover for vacations or time away. This may also include special projects as needed.
· Identify upselling and/or cross selling opportunities with customers to help reach corporate goals.
· Perform order tracking and investigative work involving plant tags, freight, and backordered plant material with necessary follow-up to customers and other interested parties.
· Gather information and enter claims to resolve customer problems. Monitor and take follow-up action in a timely manner.
· Conduct outgoing notification calls to customers on order changes as needed.
· Perform a variety of customer service related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:Required Experience
· Associate degree or equivalent in business, marketing, sales and/or horticulture viewed favorably.
· 2-3 years of customer service, marketing or inside sales experience highly preferred.
· Experience with SAP system desirable.
· PC knowledge to include strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Ability to work well independently and in a team.
· Perform work on an open work area which during seasons of high call volume can be filled
with background noise or distraction.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work with large volumes of electronic information (i.e. emails, spreadsheets, etc.).
· Demonstrated ability to handle customer related issues which involves researching, investigating, determining appropriate resolution and follow-through in action and communication to multiple parties.
· Resourcefulness: Orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal.
· Manages Complexity: Make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.
· Nimble Learning: Take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
· Being Resilient: Maintain a positive attitude despite adversity.
· Courage: Readily tackle tough assignments

· Competency in a second language would be looked upon favorably.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds 10% of the day
· Ability to push/pull up to 5 pounds 10% of the day
· Ability to sit/stand up to 100% of the day
· Ability to use hands/fingers up to 100% of the day
