POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Sales is responsible for driving the hotel’s sales results through daily effort of selling rooms and events, positioning of the hotel, and the development of customers. They are primarily responsible for driving top line revenue strategy for sales related segments which includes group, volume transient and catering. The individual is responsible for staying ahead of market trends, shifting of share, competitive hotel analysis, directing the property sales team (rooms and catering) and ensuring budgeted revenues are met or exceeded. Individual must have a positive and motivating leadership style along with excellent business acumen, decision making and communication skills

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and create group rates strategies and sales efforts deployment strategies, through review of demand analysis and competitive data, and mix management.

  • Prepares sales reports and annual Sales Plan. Coordinating with the Chief Marketing Officer on the Marketing Plan and budgets.

  • Sets goals and expectations for the sales and catering team, creates plans, programs and recommends incentives. Manage performance issues and hold the team accountable for productivity and results.

  • Provide leadership to help drive productivity, create a positive sales environment and guide daily activities of the sales and catering team. Monitor timely execution of defined assignments and sales/catering response and sales activities with customer interaction.

  • Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform professionally with both internal and external customers, hotel staff, corporate office and in community liaison situations.

  • Develop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the local community and work with the Marketing Team to enhance and provide assistance as required.

  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.

  • Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.

  • Maintain positive relations and high visibility in local and relative business organizations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major or related professional area.

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 4+ years of experience in a hospitality sales leadership role. Independent, convention hotel experience preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and customer interaction within the group meetings/convention, transient (corporate and leisure) and additional market segments as required.

  • Knowledge of developing and executing sales and marketing objectives and strategies required; preferred experience with online marketing, advertising, and finance/budget planning and management

  • Proven ability to recruit, motivate, train and retain management of sales and catering team.

  • Intellectual and analytical curiosity.

  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of various discipline focused computer programs, including a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Delphi and other platforms deemed necessary.

  • Strong financial planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints

  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.

  • Skill in development and delivery of sales presentations.

  • Ability to deal with internal and external customers and staff, collect accurate information and to resolve conflicts.

  • Excellent/Above-average reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language required.

  • Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception

Work Environment:

  • Inside work in an office environment.

  • Driving and outside of hotel/office, distance varies for meetings, sales calls and industry related events.
