Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assures and maintains compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Montana Childcare Licensing regulations;
  • Work as a member of the Operations Team, under the supervision of the EHS Director, to ensure that AWARE Early Head Start’s mission is carried out.
  • Participate in the design of internal structures, systems and policies.
  • Provides supervision, leadership, guidance and monitoring of EHS education staff, family service, ERSEA, childcare partnership, and health and wellness staff, including the clear establishment of annual performance goals, corrective action for poor performance, regular staff meetings, and development of job descriptions;
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities including but not limited to notification of vacant positions; screening applicants; arranging and participating in preliminary and preparation of paperwork for hiring, annual performance reviews of assigned staff;
  • Coordinate individual team member’s work schedules and leave requests to ensure proper coverage within a team in accordance with the AWARE procedures;
  • Provides general supervision of staff in the absence of the EHS Director;
  • Assists EHS Director in program monitoring of all service areas;
  • Assists EHS Director in annual program self-assessment, community assessment and annual program report;
  • Ensure that each program area has developed and implementing appropriate goals, monitoring systems and an integrated work plan.
  • Attends center level functions such as parent committee meetings and special events;
  • Maintain records and documentation for all direct service contracts and licensing (child care licensing, DECA license, TSG software licensing and any other educational licensing);
  • Assists in establishing formal and informal Memorandums of Understanding with identified community partners including Head Start, Early Head Start, Local Education Associations (LEA) and child care partners,
  • Facilitate service and program operations by discussions through the sharing of information and knowledge, identification of teamwork issues, development of problem-solving recommendations, and recommendations of standardizing team operations;
  • Identify practices that are and are not working and make recommendations to the assigned supervisors;
  • Participates in organizational development and long-range planning.
  • Coordinates, plans and facilitates in-service and staff training.
  • Monitors the implementation of services through regular staff meetings and individual supervisory meetings;
  • Maintains confidentiality of records and information on Early Head Start staff, children and families;
  • Participates in program planning/coordination with other Service Areas;
  • Update and implements service plans, policies, and procedures relating to ERSEA;
  • Updates and implements service plans, and procedures relating to administrative assistant position;
  • Coordinate with EHS Assistant Director – Operations to provide annual Program Information Report (PIR);
Requirements:

Required Skills, Abilities & Education:

  • A thorough understanding of the above-noted services, individuals, resources, and tools.
  • Requires at least three (3) years in a leadership position with a demonstrated knowledge of program planning and implementation practices and cultivating community relationships, including supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience, skills and abilities in high-level management and supervision
  • A BS/BA Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education/Development, Human Services, Health Care Management, or Business Administration

Preferred Skills & Abilities & Education:

  • Experience working with children aged 0 – 5 and families in a Head Start/Early Head Start setting with a demonstrated knowledge of program planning, early childhood assessment and family systems.
