The Role
We are currently looking for a Technical Lead, Data Engineering to join our Enterprise Data & Analytics team. The technical lead will be responsible for the data engineering capability and will oversee the design, development and maintenance of our Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) to support analytics needs across the company. Our technology stack comprises of Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt and PowerBI in AWS. This is a hands-on leadership role, 70% of the time will be focused on hands-on technical work including pipeline development, data modeling, and ensuring data quality; remaining 30% will be spent on strategic planning, team leadership and cross-functional collaboration. We are looking for someone with a strong blend of deep technical expertise and leadership skills. This is a hybrid position based out of Foxboro, MA.

Responsibilities
- Technical Lead for end-to-end implementation of Enterprise Data Platform that enables dashboards/reports, self-service analytics and advanced analytics/AI
- Responsible for scoping, technical architecture, design and development of data & analytics solutions
- Establish and enforce enterprise scale data engineering best practices, standards and guidelines across the development life cycle
- Create conceptual, logical and physical data models
- Integrate data from different sources, databases, APIs and external systems
- Design, build, automate, test and monitor data pipelines optimized for performance, scalability, and efficiency
- Implement data governance best practices and lead initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency and completeness across the organization. Design and develop data quality frameworks and processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Understand the data needs for various analytics business requirements and translate them into technical data solutions.
- Build and manage team of Data Engineers with a strong focus on mentoring, standardization and best practices (CI/CD, coding standards, testing and more). Provides oversight, coaching and guidance through code and design reviews.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to data engineering team and ensure engineering work is aligned with the larger departmental and organizational goals and that data needs are being met across the company.
- Collaborate with business and technical cross-functional teams to ensure successful solution development and delivery.
- Stay up to date on the latest data engineering trends and technologies, advocate for new technologies and champion their adoption to continuously improve our data infrastructure
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, information systems, or related quantitative field; master’s degree preferred
Experience: 15+ years of Data Engineering experience with 5+ years in a Technical Lead role, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring a team. Prior experience architecting and building successful self-service enterprise scale data platforms.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in data management disciplines, including data integration, modeling, building data warehouses/lakes, and data quality, or other areas relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks.
Leadership: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, as well as clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Skills
- Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery). Experience with AWS and Snowflake preferred.
- Extensive experience with ETL/ELT design and development using tools like Informatica, Matillion, AWS Glue, Talend, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or equivalent. Experience with Fivetran, dbt preferred.
- Extensive experience with database/big data technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Hadoop
- Experience with DevOps/DataOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles/technologies and test automation
- Experience with Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and programming languages such as Node.js, Python, Java or Scala is nice to have
