Training Specialist

McCall Thomas Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Training Specialist with field experience in the electric and/or communications industry to work from our Orangeburg, SC office. This new hire will have an opportunity for input and development of the role. This employee will be conducting field training for the company and some local travel will be required for employee training and workshops.

McCall-Thomas Engineering is a multi-faceted engineering firm housing multiple divisions including the Communications Engineering Division, the Electrical Engineering Division, the Electric Utility Service Division, the Electric Field Operations & UAS, and Print Services.
The Training Specialist will work with company managers and the Safety Specialist to identify training needs and develop training tools and courses for employees in the divisions referenced above with heavy emphasis on field technician training for telecommunications staff and electric division employees. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Research and maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to our business
- Plan, develop, deliver and/or coordinate training modules for employees to be delivered online and in-person. Some training needs will be in the areas of: electrical line work, splicing, fiber testing, staking and inspection, tabulation and record keeping, CPR and roadside safety.
- Coordinate all formal training functions with management to include employee scheduling, classroom or site set-up, ordering and preparing training materials, and conducting evaluations
- Maintain employee training records in corporate records system
What Will You Need:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a corporate training role
- prior field experience required in communications and/or utility industry
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel/overnight stays may be required
- Strong documentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
