Purpose:

Lead and conduct design and development activities as part of Research & Development (R&D) projects. The activities include engineering work in technology development, product design and development, test of materials, definition of specifications, creating new processes. This position description identifies the essential functions of this job. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide research and development support for new product designs.
  • Assist as project leader for product development as requested.
  • Must work well under pressure – meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • At all times must demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Produce engineering drawings and CAD files as required.
  • Develop validation test methods and protocols in accordance with federal and industry guidelines
  • Perform tests, summarize data and develop conclusions.
  • Liaise with various department heads to establish and improve fabrication processes in order to meet management yield goals.
  • Provide engineering support to define requirements for new equipment qualification/validations, installations and operation and assure equipment meets requirements for use.
  • Keep timelines and budgets on track.
  • Document requirements by writing documents, protocols, reports, change requests.
  • Apply modern prototyping methods to aid product or concept development.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Report to work in-person and start job duties on time for established shift.
  • Complete required hours on assigned works shift to complete assigned responsibilities and duties.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports or business correspondence.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to learn various software programs. Ability to work with data processing and programming.


Education & Experience:

  • BS or BA degree in and Engineering field
  • CAD design skills
  • Experience with CAD design preferred
  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work
  • Effective organization, planning and time management skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based shipping systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Demonstrated high-end problem-solving capabilities and creative design thinking methods to complex technical problems.
  • Experience in medical devices and highly regulated environments (ie ISO13485, MDSAP, FDA CFR 820)
