RESPONSIBILITIES:

   PURCHASING

  • Purchase items following store policies (e.g., priority for biodynamic, organic, local & regional).
  • Research new or alternative sources of supply.  Develop relationships with local producers.
  • Receive orders, following established procedures, and obtain credit from vendors if required.
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date PLU's.  Enter new products and price changes promptly and accurately into POS system in conjunction with POS coordinator.
  • Evaluate turns by pulling item movement reports of best sellers and slow movers, and adjust product assortment accordingly.  Maintain overall balance of number of SKU’s to space available.
  • Review invoices for potential and price adjustments and pass on to Finance department for processing.
  • Coordinate returns and obtain credit from suppliers where applicable.

MERCHANDISING

  • Plan and maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated and faced department.
  • Ensure accurate, uniform, up-to-date department signs as needed.
  • Ensure displays are replenished, rotated, culled as needed.
  • Price items to achieve margin and sales goals, while maintaining a competitive image. 
  • Assist customers with beer and wine questions and recommendations.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure inventory physical & cycle counts are implemented in accordance with standard operational procedures.
  • Participate in setting sales and margin goals for department.
  • Review departmental financial reports (sales, labor, margin, turns), with Beer and Wine Manager and take corrective action as needed.
  • Attend department and storewide meetings.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Store Manager and MOD.

       QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Beer and Wine department.
  • Strong knowledge of Beer and Wine.
  • Firm grasp of margin pricing.
  • Communications skills--good listener, clear instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

DESIRED

  • Experience purchasing beer and wine.
  • Knowledge of trends in natural foods industry.
  • Familiarity with department products.

Starting pay at $17.85 per hour and $18.35 per hour after 60 days probationary period.
