Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks involving mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to ensure the smooth operation of textile manufacturing equipment and facilities. This role requires technical skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, as well as adherence to safety protocols. The Maintenance Technician will work collaboratively with other team members to support production efficiency and equipment reliability.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on textile manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues in weaving, knitting, and dyeing machinery.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Execute repairs and replace faulty components to maintain machine efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new textile machinery and equipment.
  • Collaborate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Document maintenance activities, work requests, and work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Utilize electrical measuring instruments to diagnose electrical problems effectively.
  • Apply knowledge of industrial electrical wiring and three-phase systems in maintenance tasks.
  • Operate and maintain A/C and D/C motors and controls.
  • Maintain plant air supply systems and chiller systems.
  • Record and manage spare part inventory to ensure the availability of necessary components.
  • Operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, band saws, and welding tools.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Participate in safety training programs and adhere to safe work practices at all times.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems specific to textile manufacturing.
  • Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Experience with PLCs and other manufacturing control systems is an advantage.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in a textile manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in textile machinery.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Capable of bending, turning, and lifting while performing job tasks.
  • Able to climb stairs and work on scissor lifts at heights of up to 20 feet.
  • Stand for extended periods, typically 8 hours, with appropriate break times.
  • Ability to work in environments with high temperatures and noise levels.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery, and computer systems.
