Role Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Lead will offer guidance to team members in various domains such as safety, efficiency, quality assurance, cost management, and employee engagement. This position is accountable for supervising and directing a team of hourly staff, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are achieved, while cultivating a positive workplace culture that encourages ongoing improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the maintenance operations, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies and meet all production and maintenance objectives.
- Delegate tasks, evaluate productivity, workflows, methodologies, and procedures, and provide recommendations to upper management. Address personnel matters by analyzing data, investigating concerns, identifying solutions, and suggesting actions. Implement disciplinary measures, corrective actions, and coaching as necessary. Assist in resolving employee conflicts or grievances.
- Uphold company policies and operational standards, including problem-solving and the creation and execution of standard operating procedures. Maintain a collaborative relationship with union representatives by adhering to the collective bargaining agreement.
- Plan and allocate maintenance workforce; set priorities; track progress; adjust schedules to minimize overtime; troubleshoot issues; report daily shift production outcomes.
- Propose strategies to enhance production techniques, equipment functionality, product quality, and workplace safety.
- Identify, report, and address food safety and quality concerns. Inspect products to ensure compliance with specifications and direct machine setup and adjustments as required.
- Utilize the management framework to lead the maintenance team effectively.
- Develop and assess data to formulate action plans aimed at reducing primary downtime factors.
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience, ideally in a unionized environment and food production.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment that fosters successful project outcomes.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Self-driven to seek productive work for the department during available time.
- Capability to establish project priorities.
- Excellent analytical and reasoning abilities.
- Ability to nurture a collaborative and positive workplace atmosphere.
- Support skills development among team members.
- Commitment to professional standards and ethical conduct.
- Adaptability to changes in deadlines and responsibilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
