Staff Management Group is seeking an Assistant Slitter Operator for our client in Cranbury, NJ. Please read the ENTIRE job description and ALL of the job requirements BEFORE applying for this position.


Schedule

  • 1st Shift: 5am - 3pm
  • Monday - Thursday
  • Plus Overtime


Pay Rate

  • $16 / hour


Job Summary

The Assistant Slitter Operator is responsible for preparing surfaces by cleaning and applying adhesives or other preparations required before coating.


Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in setting up and controlling a slitting machine.
  • Reads production schedule to determine product to be slit.
  • Reads Manufacturing Specifications to determine how the product should be slit.
  • Reads and follows all Work Instructions that are related to assignment.
  • Loads and unloads rolls of film at the “unwind station” as each master of material is completed.
  • Splices film in the unwind station for roll-to-roll transfer.
  • Prepares specified cores, and boxes at the “rewind station”.
  • Prepares the “unwind station” to unload a finished coated roll of film and to begin rewinding the next coated roll of film.
  • Utilizes computerized label maker to create the appropriate identification labels for rolls finished and for boxes of finished product. Places the appropriate labels on each finished coated roll and on each box.
  • Packages finished rolls and removes from shaft
  • Utilizes a forklift to move finished product to the appropriate area.
  • Maintains quality and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for the safety of other employees in operator’s working area
  • Accountable for the quality of the finish product
  • Responsible for the overall housekeeping of assigned working area


Job Requirements

  • MUST be bilingual in English AND Spanish
  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of one year manufacturing experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel, Database software; MS Outlook Internet software; ERP Manufacturing software; E-time Payroll systems; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software.
