Outreach and Development Coordinator

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $24-$28 per hour

The Outreach and Development Coordinator (ODC) is the primary staff person responsible for Willing Hands outreach and communication strategy and implementation. This includes social media, print communications, email communications, supporting outreach events, and advertising. The ODC will assist the Executive Director in strategic fundraising activities including the annual mail and electronic appeals, business and civic group solicitation, online giving campaigns. This position will provide support in the areas of major donor stewardship and solicitation.


This position will be open until filled with an anticipated mid-July start date. 


Key Accountabilities (reason for being) (percentages as applicable):

  • Plan and execute Willing Hands’ Outreach and Communication Plan including social media, earned media, advertising as well as print and electronic communications. (50%)
  • Plan and execute direct mail appeals, email appeals, and giving days. (30%
  • Support Executive Director with major gift stewardship and solicitation. (20%)

Duties/Responsibilities:


Outreach and Communications

  • Conceptualize, plan and implement a multi-platform outreach and communications strategy that engages volunteers, donors, and the general public.
  • With support from consultants, manage the Willing Hands brand including visual elements, language and tone, and the website.
  • Serve as a Willing Hands liaison to the press, including giving interviews, providing photos and promotional materials, and writing press releases. 
  • Oversee the creation of the annual report and program impact report. 
  • Support other staff with program-specific outreach and communications.


Development

  • Manage semi-annual appeals and online giving campaigns. 
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, Board Members and consultants, support Willing Hands fundraising and donor stewardship strategy for individuals, foundations, businesses, and civic groups.

  • Understand and support the mission of Willing Hands as expressed by the Board
  • Greet the public through all channels of communication with courtesy and respect
  • Coordinate and integrate efforts with staff working on other Willing Hands programs
  • Work in a safe manner and report any safety hazards to the Executive Director
  • Maintain individual workstation and office in a clean manner
  • Practice good work habits of flexibility, efficiency, punctuality, dependability, and confidentiality
  • Strive to grow existing skills and learn new ones
  • Employ good communication skills by sharing information, listening to others, and giving positive input
  • Work as a team member by helping others and making suggestions for improvements.
