The Lactation Network is hiring a People & Culture Manager. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, the People & Culture Manager is a key member of the People Operations Team and is responsible for partnering with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO), payroll, benefits, performance management, onboarding/offboarding, culture and team member engagement.

We are a small, tight-knit, purpose-driven organization with big growth goals in 2024 and beyond. We don’t have all the answers and we don’t expect you to, either. We do expect you to be curious, hardworking, and striving to be your best self.

Breakdown of the role
  • People Operations (40%). As we scale, you will serve as the point of contact for our team member questions around benefits, policies, programs, payroll and onboarding/offboarding. You’ll support with the maintenance of our PEO relationship.
  • Culture & Employee Engagement (30%). You’ll work closely with people managers and team members as a business partner to ensure a consistent experience as it relates to our culture and team member engagement.
  • Record Handling & Reporting (30%). You’ll move through database systems quickly and efficiently while paying a high attention to detail. Run point on people reports and insights that facilitate business decisions as it relates to HR metrics, workforce planning, EEO/AAP plan administration and reporting, etc.
​​​​​​What you’ll do
  • People Operations - Demonstrate expertise and manage People Operations activities across the function including payroll, benefits, HR systems, programs (onboarding, performance management), and company policies (respectful workplace, employee handbook).
  • Change Management - Drive transformational organization effectiveness and employee engagement through research-based talent management practices and utilizing effective change management initiatives.
  • Onboarding - Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure a thoughtful onboarding experience that helps new hires quickly integrate and build connections to their work, the company, and one another. Responsible for the explanation of benefits, company policies, practices and procedures, and verifying I-9 paperwork.
  • Employee Relations - Develop trust across the business and advise team members on employee relations questions.
  • DEIB - Integrate Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging into all aspects of our people activities; support EEO/AA plan administration and reporting.
  • Team Member Experience - Partner to develop and evolve our team member experience to engage, retain and develop high-performing team members and create an inclusive culture.
  • Performance Management - Support annual performance review process and assist with performance related concerns as needed.
  • Compliance & Auditing - Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Research recommended best practices, review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Administer Benefits - Assist in creating benefit census and coordinate all benefits processing; support employees with benefits selections responding to questions.
  • Training - Provide coaching and counsel to people managers on employee matters, including but not limited to performance management, talent development, workplace culture, trust building and other HR best practices.

  • 5+ years of professional Human Resources experience in areas such as HR generalist and/or HR operations.
  • BS/BA Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management or related field.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong level of knowledge of Federal and State labor laws and regulations.
  • Broad knowledge of general employment laws, recruitment, EEO/AAP, and policy development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills up, down, and across the organization.
  • Be kind, approachable, and an active listener who inspires trust and confidence.
  • Demonstrated self-starter; strong skills in taking initiative, organization, standing alone, flexing when needed, and dealing with ambiguity.
  • An engaging communication style with a knack for building relationships and the proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with management and team members at all levels.
  • ​​​​​Action-oriented mentality, with the ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handle adversity and frequent change, and balance workload and competing priorities.
