Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of residential shingle roofing, gutter, and painting projects from start to finish, ensuring efficient and timely execution, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety protocols. This position works closely with crews, suppliers, and customers to ensure high-quality installations, seamless operations, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management:
- Oversee multiple roofing, siding, gutter, painting installation projects simultaneously.
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Coordinate materials, labor, and equipment for job sites.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage installation crews, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and job quality.
- Provide training and guidance to crews as needed, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all installations meet company quality standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct pre-installation meetings to review project scope and expectations with crew leaders.
- Perform final inspections on completed jobs to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with scope of work.
- Client Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during the production phase.
- Address and resolve any customer concerns or issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide project updates and timelines to customers and ensure all customer expectations are met.
- Coordination with Sales and Estimating:
- Work closely with the sales team to understand job scopes and any unique project requirements.
- Review estimates and proposals to ensure accuracy in labor and materials planning.
- Coordinate with the estimating team on change orders and additional work requests.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all job sites comply with OSHA and local safety regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to reduce job site injuries.
- Monitor job site safety, including use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
- Inventory and Supplier Management:
- Coordinate material orders with suppliers and ensure timely delivery to job sites.
- Manage inventory levels of materials, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service.
- Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets, controlling labor and material costs.
- Track job costs and report on profitability for each project.
- Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure timely billing and accurate job cost tracking.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in residential roofing, siding, or gutter installations.
- Proven leadership experience in managing production teams.
- Strong knowledge of roofing, siding, and gutter materials and installation techniques. Metal roofing, copper roofing, painting, drywall, skylights experience is preferred. Cedar shake and tile experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with crews, customers, and management.
- Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA) and local building codes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction documents, and estimates.
- Proficiency in project management software or scheduling tools is a plus.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required; a degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
