Job Summary

The Director of Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance is responsible for supervising all aspects of quality assurance and safety at all east coast RadNet centers, including annual QA reporting, mandatory annual compliance training, and regulatory compliance auditing and oversight. The position oversees all quality assurance at all east coast imaging centers and provides leadership to management at the sites with regard to quality assurance and regulatory compliance. Additionally, achievement of quality assurance performance targets includes: quarterly QA, patient and physician satisfaction surveys, overseeing imaging center regulatory compliance audits and onsite audits, collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends. The individual in this position works closely with the Senior Vice President and staff to monitor all operations that affect quality, assists staff and QA management with monthly and quarterly regulatory requirements; observes all safety and other regulatory compliance to ensure best practice standards are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directly supports the Senior Vice President of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs with special projects.
  • Monitors, develops and ensures compliance with quality assurance programs to reduce risks.
  • Works with Regional Managers and medical groups to assure all regulatory standards are met.
  • Promotes and supports the company’s vision, mission, and values with integrity.
  • Manages team members to achieve compliance objectives.
  • Remains informed and anticipates potential trends within the company, identifying causes and steering management toward a solution of potential compliance issues with integrity while keeping the Senior Vice President informed at all times.
  • Oversees preparation of compliance programs and various meeting documents throughout the year
  • Effectively utilizes staff team members, ensuring appropriate levels of productivity with collection, evaluation and dissemination of quarterly/yearly performance data.
  • Manages costs and expenses appropriately.
  • Updates and develops modality manuals and training to continually enhance current standards and policies.
  • Oversees preparing protocols, guidelines and procedures to analyze and resolve monitoring of QA plans and practices.
  • Works to increase retention and reduce avoidable department turnover.
  • Maintains employee morale and satisfaction at levels conducive to maintaining high productivity.
  • Sets clear and specific expectations/objectives for employees and departments.
  • Monitors and documents performance during performance evaluation periods.
  • Ensures that all performance evaluations are completed, conducted and submitted on time.
  • Recognizes and provides coaching, counseling and discipline as appropriate.
  • Provides staff team members with support and motivation.
  • Exhibits objectivity and openness to other’s views
  • Demonstrates ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Promotes flexibility in staff utilization across teams working with applicable departments.
  • Delegate work appropriately and follows through to ensure optimal tracking of useable results.

  • Engages in succession planning by identifying and mentoring a future Director of Quality Assurance.
  • Responsible for project management with regard to internal center auditing, investigations, reporting and reviewing team member’s responsibilities and redirecting team members if required.
  • Advocates change to maximize effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assists managers as needed in meeting all regulatory and compliance standards and objectives through training and specific spot auditing, identifying areas with errors needing improvement.
  • Keeps informed of Radnet policies and general conditions to provide input and propose solutions to problems whenever possible.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing compliance publications.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Understands how external forces in the healthcare industry affect operations and revenues.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve department and organizational objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.
  • 10+ years leadership experience required.
  • Ability to share information effectively and provide appropriate direction to team members.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to team members.
  • Ability to maintain proactive relationship with referring physicians.
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of developing budgets, general computer skills, and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills in interactions with peers in senior management.
  • Maintains a “team” mentality within Quality Assurance and as a member of senior management.
  • A four-year degree in business administration or health care administration is required.
  • Six or more years of experience in the radiology service industry and management experience is preferred.
  • An understanding of Contracting and experience working with medical groups is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.

  • Completes job responsibilities in a quality and timely manner.

Physical Demands

This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching with hands and arms, using hands and fingers, handling, or feeling, speaking, listening and high-level cognitive thinking. Also, must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally. The position requires the ability to travel, drive a vehicle, and utilize other forms of transportation.

Working Environment

An office setting associated with patient care areas and environments or a remote location office setting as authorized by the Senior Vice President of Compliance & Regulatory Affairs.
