We are seeking an experienced and talented Associate Engineer, Assistant Department Manager to join our Southern California team for our Irvine office. 

We are seeking someone with a strong background in Construction Observation and Material Engineering and Testing (COMET) to oversee infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the Construction Quality Assurance , ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee various stages of major civil infrastructure  projects, including roads, railways, airports, bridges, dams, sewerage systems, pipelines, and buildings1
  • Oversee all project stages from preliminary layouts to final engineering designs and provide quality assurance services to project stakeholder.
  • Review and audit project inspection reports for compliance with industry codes, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Design and recommend improvements to computer-aided design (CAD) software 
  • Train and build source inspection service line as part of COMET expansion to ensure that all materials and workmanship meet project specifications.
  • Perform cost estimations, prepare project budgets, and manage project resources.
  • Prepare work schedules, supervise junior engineers, construction managers, workers, technicians, and contractors.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to shape the future of COMET practice.
  • Document processes and present project progress updates to senior managers and clients.

Qualifications:•Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with a Master’s preferred.
•Registered as a civil engineer or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment 
•A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a civil engineer, with at least 2 years in a senior role on large infrastructure projects1.
•Proficiency in civil engineering project management software, such as Civil 3D and, as well as CAD.
•In-depth knowledge of civil engineering and construction specifications, standards, and codes.
•Experience with COMET, testing procedures, and source inspection.
•Strong leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent mathematical, time-management, and organizational abilities.
•Superb communication and collaboration skills.
•Availability to perform construction site visits outside of business hours, when necessary.
