Financial Accountant (JUNK Brands business)

Position Summary

  • Title Financial Accountant I

  • Department Finance

  • Reports to Accounting Manager

  • FLSA Salary, Exempt

Summary/Objective:

The JUNK Brands Financial Accountant I is responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. While this role has no supervisory responsibilities, it serves as a key resource for financial data for the President and Head of Finance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, publishing monthly in desired time frame.
  • Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
  • Maintain and process payables and receivables.
  • Process payments to vendors.
  • Process payments from customers.
  • Collect, analyze, reconcile, and summarize account information.
  • Report to the President, Head of Finance, and leadership team the finances of the company.
  • Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closing process in timely manner.
  • Keep information confidential and secure.
  • Develop understanding of accounting and bookkeeping personnel duties, to ensure proper accounting principles are upheld.
  • Continuous monitoring of new accounting standards and principles to ensure company compliance.

Education & Qualifications Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance from a four-year college or university; and 2-5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have strong follow up, organizational, attention to detail, time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with managers, vendors etc. and must be able to exchange accurate information timely, and in a clear manner.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, and expansive reading. Constantly operates a computer or other office machinery.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 70% of the day and occasionally reach, bend and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs occasionally throughout day
  • Adapt to moderate noise (Example: collaborative team environment, office with computers, printing and light traffic).
  • Able to hear a telephone ring
  • No travel required
