Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Engineer to join our specialty concrete construction company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, quantities, and takeoffs. This role requires 2-3 years of project engineering experience within a construction company, and preference will be given to those with experience using takeoff software such as On-screen Takeoff or Bluebeam.

Responsibilities:

  1. RFIs and Submittals:
  • Prepare, review, and manage RFIs and submittals to ensure timely and accurate communication with project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and clients to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all RFIs and submittals, ensuring they are logged and tracked throughout the project lifecycle.
  1. Quantity Takeoffs:
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete construction projects using takeoff software like On-screen Takeoff or Bluebeam.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to accurately determine material quantities and labor requirements.
  • Ensure takeoffs are precise and complete to support project estimates and cost control.
  1. Project Coordination:
  • Assist project managers in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of construction activities.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate smooth project execution.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare regular project status reports and updates for management and clients.
  • Track and report on project performance metrics, identifying any issues or areas for improvement.
  1. Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support and expertise to project teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project-specific procedures and protocols.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in specialty concrete construction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of project engineering experience within a construction company, with a focus on specialty concrete construction preferred.
  • Proficiency in takeoff software such as On-screen Takeoff or Bluebeam.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, building codes, and best practices related to specialty concrete construction.
