Position Overview:
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the Good Shepherd Community Clinic, Inc. This role involves managing financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting functions to ensure the financial health and stability of the organization. The Financial Controller will work closely with the CFO to develop financial strategies and provide accurate financial information to support decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department managers to develop and finalize budgets.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to the CFO and senior leadership team.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support long-term financial planning.
3. Accounting Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
4. Audit and Compliance:
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits, working with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as grant and contract requirements.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to regulatory agencies and funding sources as required.
5. Cash Flow Management:
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Develop and implement cash flow forecasting models to optimize cash management.
  • Oversee banking relationships and manage lines of credit and other financing arrangements.
6. Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and support the finance and accounting team, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
7. Financial Systems and Technology:
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of financial management systems and software.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and best practices in financial management.
  • Lead efforts to integrate new technologies to improve financial processes and reporting.
8. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with the CFO and other senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies.
  • Communicate financial information and insights to the Board of Directors, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the finance department in meetings and on committees as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelors degree in accounting
  • Preferred: Masters in Accounting, CPA or MBA.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proven track record of financial management and analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems, Microsoft Excel and software required.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
