Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Full Time, 1st Shift Medical Assistant (Nurses Aide) at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Position Schedule: Mon - Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Compensation: MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience. The starting rate for this position is between $18.00 and $22.38 per hour.

Job Summary:

The Certified Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant performs delegated aspects of patient care in radiology working under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Collect, report and record patient data
  2. Assist patients in the pre and post-op areas
  3. Transporting patients
  4. Implement selected aspects of the patient care plan according to hospital policy and procedure
  5. Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for the patient and/or their family members
  6. Maintain unit equipment and supplies as directed
  7. Perform vital signs, phlebotomy (if certified)
  8. Assist with patient communication, screening, scheduling, and coordinating patient follow-up
  9. Assist with clerical duties: scanning, faxing, maintaining records
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Guidelines:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or Medical Assistant Certification required or Certified Nurses Aide Program (CMA,CCMA, RMA, CNA)
  • At least one year of prior work experience in a direct patient hospital care setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Must be compassionate and empathetic.
  • Ability to handle emotional and stressful situations in a professional manner while remaining calm.
  • Experience using electronic medical records. EPIC experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and standing.
  • Must be able to lift and move patients, using equipment or with assistance.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
  • OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
