The Veterinary Emergency Hospital of Midlothian (VEHM) is a busy, privately-owned, 24/7 small Animal ER that has opened a secondary location, Veterinary Emergency Hospital Arlington Urgent Care. We pride ourselves in offering a high level of efficient, progressive, and compassionate patient care with exemplary customer service. We currently have a full staff of doctors and support staff and are eager to expand our organization


Who We Are Looking For:

We seek to find highly skilled and motivated veterinary technician assistants. TA’s collaborate closely with our team, patients, and clients with the goal to provide compassionate care in a crisis. TA’s fill an essential role helping provide patients care. The care taking tasks are numerous, such as restraining, walking, feeding, changing litterboxes, assisting with treatments, as well as cleaning, disinfecting equipment, kennels, and the hospital. Due the busy environment of the ER and dealing with critical patients, candidates are required to have experience. Please review requirements.

Job Description:

Clean and sterilize cages, kennels, Isolation, examination rooms, operating rooms, ICU, and Laboratory area

Maintain Hospital interior, exterior, and yard cleanliness. Remove animal waste and trash from yard

Restrain animals safely and humanely during examinations and procedures

Assist veterinarians, vet techs, and customer service representatives

Monitor and urgently identify changes in hospitalized patients and patients waiting for outpatient procedure and alert supervisor immediately

Maintain patient records with enter vitals, weights, and treatments

Assist with client communications, owners visiting, and alerting staff to client concerns or questions

Collect samples for testing

Running laboratory samples

Maintain sterilized tools and equipment

Restocking ICU, Surgery, Isolation, bathrooms, and breakroom

Assisting with hospitalized patients walking, changing litterboxes, and feeding

Assist with patient discharges and removal of IVC

Clipper Care

Laundry

Trash removal


WORK REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in awkward positions that include reaching, bending, sitting, standing, and walking for an extended period of time. Required to lift up to forty (40) pounds. Employees will be expected to request assistance with lifting or carrying animals or materials over 40 pounds.

  • Radiation exposure
  • Possible exposure to gas sterilization using ethylene oxide
  • Exposure to hazardous associated with infected animals and contagious diseases
  • Exposure to hazardous medications, controlled substances, and disinfectants
  • Exposures to unpleasant odors and noises
  • Exposure to aggressive patients, bites, scratches, and animal bodily fluids



Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED

1 year veterinary experience or equivalent small animal care

Demonstrate animal restraint techniques

Knowledge of basic animal wellness, vaccines, routine procedures, and common diseases

Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment

Ability to multitask and provide compassionate customer service

Ability to remain calm and compassionate during critical situations
