Administrative Assistant

Our Administrative Assistants are critical in providing essential clerical support to the Program Manager, classroom teachers, and parents. Their support enables our teams to provide essential educational and therapeutic services to individuals of all abilities.
Salary Range: $18.25 - $21.52/hr
*Salary range is contingent upon relatable experience, credentialing/certification, education, and use of a second language in your role (50% of the time).
As an Administrative Assistant, you will (list is not inclusive of all duties):
- Support in classrooms (as needed)
- Provide clerical support and follow-up tasks on new referrals for program funding
- Coordinate Director, managers, & staff meeting schedules
- Schedule appointments, tours, & intakes
- Create, verify, & update student records, logs, intake packets, & forms (as needed)
- Create and maintain student filing system
- Assist and support the Program Director with special projects, mailings, & ordering of curriculum supplies
- Maintain student lists, class lists, & waiting lists for the program
- Provide support to the Program Director with staff training, including interns and volunteers

You will need the following minimum qualifications to be considered:
- GED and 1 year of experience in an office setting
- Be willing to complete 6 ECE (Early Childhood Education) units to provide support in the classrooms
- Proficiency in using modern office technology including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Teams), Adobe, Zoom, Basic email & Internet as well as the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and software
- Hold appropriate automobile insurance with limits that allow driving a personal vehicle for work (25/50k liability coverage)
- Must clear a current background check through the FBI, DOJ, & CCL
- A current TB Test (within the last 6 months)
- Complete and pass a job-related health screening
- Provide proof of MMR & DTap Vaccines
Environment & Physical Qualifications: The Almansor Center Early Education Program is a developmental program for young children, Infants to Pre-K, designed to encourage the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and development of each child. Almansor strives to create an atmosphere that allows each child’s intellectual curiosity to flourish in a safe and nurturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Working at a computer up to 50-75% of total work hours. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-pound boxes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
ABOUT IRL
The Institute for the Redesign of Learning (IRL) is a multi-service, community-based Special Education, mental health, job development, and training facility for special needs children, students, and adults. IRL began in 1974 when its founder, Nancy J. Lavelle, Ph.D., created the Almansor Education Center located in a church on Almansor Street in Alhambra, California. With the belief that every student has the ability to “take charge” of their own learning process, Dr. Lavelle established a unique environment and individualized curriculum and created appropriate support and enrichment services designed to turn student and client learning failures into learning successes. Now over forty years later, the Institute for the Redesign of Learning offers six programs designed to provide a continuum of care for individuals with Special Needs, ages infants through adults, serving children, students, and clients throughout the greater Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley communities.
