Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Controller to manage our accounting team. Reporting to and supporting the CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements. In addition, the Controller will supervise other accounting staff who handle day-to-day financial transactions in Deltek Costpoint and payroll using Paylocity software. The Controller will work closely with the CFO to streamline and improve accounting processes, ensuring the organization's financial operations run efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the full accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger, project cost accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and cash management
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all accounts are properly reconciled and documented
  • Manage the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, maintaining efficient invoicing, collections, and payment processes
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of financial data to ensure spending complies with policies and regulations.
  • Supervise team members to maintain records of financial transactions, ensure legal compliance, create, and track invoices to clients, and review accurate and timely computation and payment of payroll and expenses.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations to drive strategic decision-making
  • Establish and maintain accounting procedures and controls and monthly accounting calendar
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements
  • Support proposal development and pricing for RFPs and RFQs
  • Manage relationship with third party consulting partner for Deltek Costpoint services

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 5 years in a controller or senior accounting management position 
  • Demonstrated expertise of government contracting, nonprofit, or other highly regulated industries including, knowledge of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint Time & Expense and Project Accounting, payroll, and HR administration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work remotely with flexible hours to support the team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Paylocity and/or Bill.com
