Job Summary:

The Recovery Specialist Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the Recovery Specialist department, ensuring the effective delivery of services to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. In this managerial role, the Recovery Specialist Manager will oversee and mentor a team of Recovery Specialists, serving as a role model, advocate, and motivator to both staff and clients. The Manager will be pivotal in fostering a positive environment that promotes long-term recovery and relapse prevention. This is a working manager position and requires potential of working weekends, nights and/ or days.


Key responsibilities include supervising the treatment program's facility, ensuring that clients' essential needs are met during detoxification or residential stays, and maintaining a high standard of care and service delivery within the department. The Recovery Specialist Manager will also collaborate with other departments to enhance program effectiveness and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: As a working manager, you will be actively involved in both leadership and hands-on tasks to ensure smooth operations and high-quality service delivery.


Your responsibilities include:

Manage Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain and organize all reports, records, and documents in appropriate files and databases.

Oversee the documentation process, ensuring that all client rounds are properly recorded on the rounds sheet.

Review and update shift reports at the beginning of each shift, and ensure that your own shift report is completed, along with all essential tasks, by the end of the shift.

Client Admission and Discharge:

Oversee the intake process for new admissions, ensuring compliance with Company policies, including urine analysis (UA), belongings searches, and completion of all required paperwork and assessments.

Manage the discharge process, ensuring that all procedures are followed and documented correctly.

Client Care and Documentation:

Ensure that daily progress notes are accurately documented in client files, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Supervise and document client medication administration, ensuring adherence to Company policies.

Oversee the monitoring and documentation of client vitals, including blood pressure, in accordance with Company, DHCS, and The Joint Commission guidelines.

Transportation and Crisis Management:

Coordinate and manage the transportation of clients to appointments, meetings, and other necessary engagements.

Lead and perform crisis intervention as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of all clients.

Group Facilitation and Support:

Conduct AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) counseling group sessions as required, ensuring proper documentation of all sessions.

Provide leadership and support to clients, assisting, teaching, and supervising them in general program activities.

Office Management and Compliance:

Oversee general office duties, including filing, copying, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Ensure the facility's cleanliness and compliance with JCAHO accreditation standards by conducting Environment of Care (EOC) rounds and maintaining adherence to all state regulations.

Monitor and record work hours daily using the Company's online timekeeping system.

Leadership and Accountability:

Take responsibility for the completion of all duties and documentation in line with the Company's policies and procedures.

Actively participate in maintaining a positive and compliant work environment, ensuring that all standards are met.

Complete all other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and leadership in managing the needs of the department.

This role requires a balance of managerial oversight and direct involvement in daily operations to ensure the highest standard of care and service delivery within the program.

Requirements:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirement:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed course work for AOD certification or CADAC I, II, III.
  • One year of experience in a human services setting in a manager role; strong professional references attesting to high degree of customer service, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to assist in an emergency situation.
  • Special consideration is given to applicants with previous experience in behavioral health / substance use treatment.
  • Computer literate and ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally with clients, administration, the treatment team and family members
  • Clean DMV record and/or meet criteria in accordance with Company insurance policy requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Candidates must possess an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in a relevant field of science. Preferred fields include, but are not limited to, Behavioral Science, Health Science, Psychology, Biology, or any other discipline directly related to the role. Advanced degrees or additional certifications in specialized areas of science or healthcare will be considered an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RADT
  • Demonstrates interest and ability to work effectively with the community.
  • Competent in working with individuals with diagnosis of chemical dependence.
  • Demonstrates ability to use de-escalation techniques, including but not limited to: attentiveness to potential triggers/stressors and early indicators of distress.
  • Ability to provide responses that rely on engagement and empathy.
  • Ability to model composure through use of calm voice and neutral facial expressions; remaining self-aware of verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust verbal and non-verbal communication, prompting for use of known coping skills; etc.

Required licenses or certifications:

  • CPR/First Aid
  • Current Registered Student (RAS) or in the process of getting license preferred, must obtain it within the first month of employment.
  • CADC II/III
  • Driver's License

Physical Requirements:

  • Move throughout the Residential Houses and community.
  • Repetitive hand movement use and view PC. Use fax, telephone, and copier.
  • Sits or stand for long period of time, reach, bend, climb, stoop, and lift to 25lb.
  • Read and write, verbal and written communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Prioritize, meet deadlines, and use sound judgment.
  • Have reliable transportation, clean driving record, and car insurance as required by the state.


Attendance Standards

Consistently be at work and communicate appropriately any attendance issues with supervisor as per policy. Consistently at their workstation at the appropriately scheduled time. Does not abuse breaks and/or departure times.


Language Skills

Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Has the ability to write complex correspondence. Has the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, visitors, and other employees of the organization.


Reasoning Ability

Has the ability to solve practical complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
