Insurance Reimbursement Specialist

Salary range = $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Community Wellness Partners at Presbyterian Homes for CNY has an excellent opportunity for a full time Insurance Reimbursement Specialist to join our expanding outpatient therapy clinic.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner, as well as answering multi-line phones, taking co-pays and verifying insurance and obtaining therapy authorization.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Rehab Director
HOURS: Day shift
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Check in and out of patients.
2) Scheduling patient appointments.
3) Answer multi-line phones and taking messages.
4) Calling no shows and rescheduling cancels.
5) Taking co-pays and printing out schedules for patients.
6) Scanning medical documents
7) Runs eligibility on all patients encountered to ensure active insurance coverage for the days visit.
8) Insurance verification/authorization for outpatient and inpatient clients
9) Balances all money collected at the end of the business day to ensure correct totals for all payments taken.
The job holder must demonstrate competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required
KNOWLEDGE:
1) Knowledge of Medical office procedures
2) Knowledge of how to operate telephone equipment.
3) Knowledge of customer services principles and techniques.
4) Knowledge of Insurance verification preferred
5) Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures related to patient HIPAA regulations.
SKILLS:
1) Skills in time management.
2) Skills in using Front office equipment (fax,copier,email)
3) Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line telephone system.
4) Strong communication skills required
ABILITIES:
1) Ability to multitask.
2) Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the therapy team and Presbyterian Home staff.
3) Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule.
4) Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instructions.
5) Ability to respond to stressful/emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
