The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a full-time Procurement Director to join our award-winning team. If you are passionate about providing first-class service in a friendly ocean front environment, you have come to the right place The Procurement Director develops and implements procurement strategies aligned with the club's strategic goals and objectives while monitoring industry trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and diligently pursues efficiency improvements in all aspects of the club's purchasing activities. As a member of our team, you will receive weekly pay, free shift meals, uniforms, discounts at our golf and tennis pro shops, golfing and tennis privileges, employee appreciation events, and continued career education/certifications.

ABOUT THE POSITION

  1. Develops and implements procurement strategies aligned with the club's strategic goals and objectives. Monitors industry trends, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and diligently pursues efficiency improvements in all aspects of the club's purchasing activities. Tracks and reports cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  2. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with vendors and suppliers across all operating divisions. Implements measures to ensure the timely and consistent delivery of purchased goods and services. Evaluates vendor performance and proactively monitors compliance with established service level agreements and takes measures to improve vendor performance where needed. Presents all expiring contracts to upper management six months in advance of expiration.
  3. Oversees all inventory levels, including but not limited to food and beverage, equipment, and operating supplies (chemicals, fertilizers, apparel). Ensures optimal levels of inventory by implementing inventory management practices and systems to track usage, establish reorder points, and minimize waste and shrinkage.
  4. Places orders, tracks the progress of outstanding deliveries, and proactively ensures that goods and services are timely delivered. Establishes measures to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of orders, and works with accounting staff to ensure the accuracy and propriety of payments to vendors and suppliers. Participates in all monthly inventories.
  5. Works collaboratively with all club management and staff. Analyzes spending trends, and produces reports of cost savings, pricing histories, inventory levels, and efficiency enhancements. Uses this information to assist management establish departmental budgets and achieve desired operational performance.
  6. Ensures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements as it relates to the acquisition, receipt and storage of goods and/or services. Performs additional duties as assigned.
  7. Ensures the Club reviews and receives 3 bids, as determined by the Club's bi-laws, and requested by management, the board of directors, and the finance committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Possess an associate or bachelor's degree and/or have experience in purchasing and commensurate work-related experience. Industry specific certifications and licensures considered a plus.
  2. Have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a procurement director, buyer, or similar role, preferably in the hospitality or club industry.
  3. Demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills and have proven vendor management experience.
  4. Possess a strong knowledge of inventory management practices and related control systems.
  5. Demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills and be proficient with spreadsheet and presentation software applications.
