Digital Film Asset Specialist 1342439

A leading video, audio, and voice technologies company is seeking a Digital Film Asset Specialist. The successful candidate will assist in the conversion and archiving of approximately 1-2,000 student films from physical to digital assets working closely with student directors from USC to process, assess, and transform these assets into standardized digital formats. The ideal candidate has experience in movie production, digital conversion processes, data transformation, and encoding processes. The company offers a great work environment

Digital Film Asset Specialist Pay and Benefits:

  • Hourly pay: $35/hr
  • Worksite: Leading audio, video, and voice technologies company (Los Angeles, CA 90007 - Onsite)
  • W2 Employment, Group Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement Savings Program, PSL
  • 40 hours/week, 3 Month Assignment, Possible extension

Digital Film Asset Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Manage collaboration with universities to acquire data and content and at the same time help build dashboards to access their data digitally.
  • Liaise with student directors and campus faculty for content to digitize and archive.
  • Data Ingestion & Repository Management:
    • Handle the intake of various physical media formats containing student films.
    • Develop and manage a digital repository for storing and organizing converted digital assets.
  • Conversion & Archiving:
    • Convert physical assets (e.g., tapes, DVDs, film) into preferred digital formats.
    • Review and assess the quality of student films, working closely with student directors to identify high-quality content.
    • Ensure consistent encoding and transformation from raw formats to preferred digital formats.
  • Content Gathering & Analysis:
    • Visit onsite locations to gather content from external resources.
    • Analyze and make sense of the data, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the conversion process.
  • Format Standardization:
    • Convert diverse media formats to reduce the variety of formats and standardize them into preferred digital formats.
    • Maintain a detailed record of media formats and their conversion status.

Digital Film Asset Specialist Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of related experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in movie production and digital conversion processes.
  • Experience in data transformation and encoding processes.
  • Proficiency in handling a wide range of media formats, including but not limited to:
    • Betacam, Bluray, D1/D2/D5, Digibeta, DVCam/MiniDV, DVD, Film, Hi8, HDCam, UMATICS, VHS, Digital Files.
  • Cloud technology like AWS is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing large volumes of content.
  • Ability to collaborate with student directors and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive skills in cinema technology especially movie production in relation to physical assets like reels are preferred.
