Associate Accountants are given a wide variety of research, bookkeeping, auditing, accounting, and tax assignments, and other consulting tasks. Performance is judged on proficiency and effectiveness of task performance, including the quality of work, application of performance, accounting knowledge, and the ability to meet time constraints.

Develop basic technical skills and knowledge in the areas of bookkeeping, auditing, compilation, reviews, federal and state taxation and business consulting.

Essential Performance:

1) Planning and actuating personal daily schedule, organization of workload and ability to adapt to change based upon project urgency

2) Develop understanding of, tax, accounting, and research methodologies

3) Develop basic computer and business equipment (calculators, etc.) skills that enhance your performance.

4) Develop strong workpaper documentation skills while utilizing firm workpaper templates

5) Understands the firm’s tax procedures and processes

6) Works well in a team environment- promotes open communication among the team

7) Performs self reviews of work

8) Takes ownership for tasks/clients assigned to them


Skills: 

  • Proficient use of business software required to our profession:
    • Basic - Excel, Word, Data base management software and project management (Project).
    • Advanced - Specialized accounting and auditing software with which we work.
  • Develop written and verbal communication skills.
  • Identify and communicate potential problem areas during engagements;
  • Work directly with other staff, managers and partners; and
  • Complete tasks in an efficient and effective manner

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field

Bookkeeping and previous business tax preparation experience a plus

Prepare for and pass the CPA examination
